A strong Walton team provided some excellent performances throughout an enjoyable day.

Starting with the sprints, Jacob Thomas won the U20 A string 100m with a time of 11.60 and Alexander Cronje finished second in the B string race in 12.20.  In the U20 Women’s race, Tobi Aderoju claimed third place in 14.10.

In the U17 races, Harry Livesey ran 11.72 for second in the A race and James Skeet ran 12.10 for third in the B race. Erin Gregory won the women’s A race in 13.13.

Dylan Haarhoff and Kane Dedewo ran 12.43 and 11.59 respectively in the non-scoring race.

Moving on to the 200m, George Pittwood ran 22.55 to win U20 the A race, with Sean Salter finishing second in the B race in 24.04.  Harry Livesey and James Skeet were back out for the U17 200m with a third place for Harry in the A race in 24.11 and a second place for James in the B race in 23.74.

In the non-scoring 200m, Thomas Darragh ran 26.00 and Nicolas Walter ran 24.66.

Matthew McKenna ran 49.82 in the U20 400m A race for first place.  Nicolas Walter ran 55.18 in the B race, coming home in second place. In the U17 race, Joshua Cheyne ran 57.96 to finish fourth in the A race with Thomas Darragh finishing third in the B race in 59.22.  Layla Drury won the U17 women’s 300m A race in a time of 42.31. Layla also finished third in the U17 80m hurdles in a time of 13.94.  Finn Gibbons ran 60.14 in the non-scoring 400m on his debut for Walton.

The U20 men were just as successful in the jumps, with Jacob Thomas winning the long jump, with a best of 5.78m.  Ash Wright won the high jump, with a leap of 1.75m. Tori-ann Anderson continued her good form to jump 1.66m in the women’s U20 high jump, placing first.  Finn Gibbons jumped 3.71m in the U17 long jump to place fourth.  Chia Brown jumped 4.52 to seal second place in the U17 women’s long jump, Chia also finished equal second place in the high jump with 1.40m.

There were some excellent performances in the throws too, getting off to a winning start with Archie Vinnicombe, who threw 10.37m in the U20 men’s shotput.  In the U20 women’s shotput, Tobi Aderoju threw 7.66m for second place. Tobi also won the U20 Javelin with a throw of 18.20m.

In the U17 javelin, we had two winners, with Lucas De La Touche throwing an impressive 43.07m, beating his nearest rival by almost 10m.  Finn Gibbons threw 11.50m to pick up first place in the B event in his first ever attempt at the event.  Chia Brown finished second in the U17 women’s javelin, throwing 25.05m.

The final event of the day for Walton athletes was the 4 x 100m.  Walton U17 men finished second in a new U17 club record of 45.56 seconds, taking almost a second and a half off the previous record.  Congratulations to Harry Livesey, James Skeet, Kane Dedewo and Dylan Haarhoff for a brilliant run.

I hope I have mentioned everyone that participated, congratulations to all for some brilliant performances, Walton finished fourth overall on the day, our best finish of the season.
