Lucas De La Touché had a remarkable Championship winning the U15 boys Javelin in a PB and new U15 Club record, with a huge throw of 51.37m. This was his first time over the 50m mark, and he took home the gold medal and kudos of being an English Schools Champion.
Tori-Ann Anderson finished in a fantastic 9th position in the U17 girls High Jump with a performance of 1.65m. Tori has been jumping extremely consistently this year and has already set new club records in the High Jump.
Matthew McKenna competed in the U17 boys 800m and with extremely tough qualification, experienced a lot of bumping and pushing in true championship type 800m running. Although frustrated he didn’t progress to the final, he still ran a solid 1:58 after being tripped during the final lap of his heat.
Amy McLoughlin, who was the youngest member of the Surrey Team, ran another PB in her heat of the 300m, running 41.85secs making her one of the fastest 13-year old’s in the UK over this distance.
It was all four athletes first experience of the English Schools Championships and all of them performed exceptionally well and were a credit to both the club and the Surrey Team. We salute you all, well done!
