Bob Bannister was Walton’s sole representative in the Wedding day 7km at Bushy Park, finishing in 39:00. Well done, Bob.

Walton fielded a strong team for the Elmbridge 10km, in what is essentially, our home fixture.  Elmbridge road runners put on a great event as always so our thanks go out to them.  It was a hot and humid morning that proved tough for our runners but everyone put in a good performance.

First Walton athlete to cross the line was Robert Smith in 31st place running 36:23.  Clinton De Tarnowsky came next in 50th place running 37:32.  Less than 30 seconds later was Richard Singleton in 37:57 then Ben Harling in 38:12, finishing 57th and 59th respectively.

Nicholas Grobler was on pacing duties after a huge 10KM PB the week before and came through in 93rd place with a time of 39:34, followed by Alfie Pike in 101st, running 40:09.  Charlie Hobbs followed in 108th in 40:37.

Alex Slotwinska was first home for the women in 43:42 in 159th.  Unfortunately, the results are not currently showing the women’s placings so the positions are overall.  Michelle Tafili was next in 45:08 in 190th, the Helen Channon in 298th running 53:26.

Bob Bannister finished in 57:56 for 339th and Bryn Francke rounded off the Walton athletes in 1:02:01 for 394th.

Walton men finished 10th overall in the Surrey road league.  A very respectable achievement from a field of 40 teams.  Walton ladies were 27th, another good result considering penalty scores for 2 races.

Well done to all runners who have taken part in the road league this season.
