An injury and illness-hit team were lacking in numbers, but everyone put in a performance on the day to ensure a solid mid-table finish.
Craig Jarman was Walton’s first athlete across the line in 15th place. Craig has had an excellent season, with 3 top 20 finishes from 4 races and finished 3rd for the season in the individual V35 age category. Another success story is that of 2nd Walton finisher and team captain Duncan Woolmer, who, 12 months ago suffered a serious injury with a lengthy layoff but is now back where he belongs at the head of the team, coming home in 19th place on the day. Duncan also finished the season with 3 top 20 finishes and finished joint 1st place in the V45 season standings. Well done to both.
Dominic Holloway-Barber was the 3rd Walton athlete to finish in 21st place on the day, his highest finish of the season. Dominic has ruffled some feathers in his first season in black, red, and gold, pushing Craig and Duncan and often leading them out. It is good to see more Walton runners pushing the top places and providing competition for the two stalwarts up top! Well done Dom.
Alfie Pike, who relishes the muddy conditions, also had his highest finish of the season with a 50th place overall and 4th Walton. With this, Alfie secured 3rd place in the U20 season standings. Rob Tuer followed Alfie as the 5th Walton runner and 69th place, a very consistent season from Rob.
Ben Harling and Jack Dawson were 6th and 7th Walton athletes to finish, only separated by 10 seconds, finishing in 76th and 79th respectively.
Dominic Reed finished 8th Walton and 83rd overall with Sam Holloway following in 85th overall and 9th Walton scorer. The scoring team was rounded off by Adam Parsons in 89th, running his first cross-country season and improving match by match. Super efforts from all five.
Our B team was led home by Stephen Carpenter as 36th B scorer and followed by Christopher Coppellotti in 37th. Excellent work guys in very challenging conditions.
An 8th place finish on the day secured 6th place in the league for the season. A good mid-table finish down to lots of great individual efforts. Well done gents!
