The course consisted of three laps of a largely flat route, on grass and mud paths.  Underfoot was firm enough that spikes were not necessary, but they certainly helped.

Jani Kraner was the first Walton athlete to finish in a time of 33:59, which was good enough for 13th overall and 4th M40.  A very good run from Jani.  Robert Smith was next in 19th place overall clocking 34:49. This was good enough for 3rd place in the M35 category and a bronze medal.  Congratulations Robert. Chris Ness was the final Walton runner home in 39:07, finishing in 53rd overall and a credible 9th place in a very strong M50 category.  Well done Chris.

A week later, on Saturday 2nd November, the brilliant and exciting Priory relays took place at Priory Park in Reigate.  Walton had two men’s teams and one women’s team.

Men’s team A consisted of Alfie pike, Jonathan Hiorns, Samuel Holloway, Charlie Hobbs.  Jonathan ran the fastest leg of the day for Walton, dipping under the 16-minute barrier for the 4.15km course, finishing in 15:39.  Alfie ran 16:09 whilst Sam and Charlie ran well to finish in 16:21 and 16:30 respectively.  The team finished in 7th place on the day, a good performance from the boys.

Women A were Susie McLoughlin (22:06), Helen Chanon (21:57), and Lizzie Amos (20:12).  The team ran well to finish 12th on the day.  A solid performance for the ladies.

Men B lined up with Oliver Sayner (17:32), Martin Willis (22:42), and both running their second leg of the day, Alfie Pike (17:04) and Oliver Sayner (18:29).  The team finished 17th on the day from 39 teams, a good result considering two of the team ran twice.

A good day as had by all, the relays never fail to deliver a fun packed day for runners and their supporting family and friends.
