The final result was tight; with Reading AC taking 1 st with 289pts, Radley AC 2 nd with 281pts, Walton AC in 3 rd with 208pts above Guildford & Godalming who were 4 th in 200pts, and finishing the results were South London Harriers [5 th 162pts] and Crawley [6 th 103pts].

We had some great individual performances contributing to the team score, with many athletes doubling and even tripling up in events – Michelle Tafili [16pts], Robert A Smith [15pts], and Sam Mace and club debutant Lucy Loades [14pts] all performing well in their respective disciplines. Such was the quality of the team, Walton picked up multiple top 2 performances across the A and B strings in various events; opening the scoring were Sarah Loades and Natasha Hart picking up wins in the A&B 400m Hurdles, South of England Champ Tanapon Longjamnong and Luc Balayer grabbing second and first in the A&B Triple Jump, and Sam and Rob C Smith taking double victory in the A&B Hammer. There were also individual wins for Duncan Woolmer, Jamie Mcoughlin, Mandy Ruks, and Nicola Bell – well done team!

We also had some terrific scenes in the mixed relay; with long distance duo Michelle and Mandy Ruks using the 1500m Steeplechase as their warm up before stepping down some 10 minutes later into the 4x400m B string to ensure we got a team out, and finished ahead of the chasing Crawley quartet!

As with our first match of the season, a Walton AC Athlete has won the League Athlete of the Match award – this time for the ladies! Tori-Ann Anderson and Nicola Bell picking up their second nominations in a row, with Tori-Ann winning the award for her 1.66m jump which secured victory in the A String High Jump!

Our next fixture takes us to Guildford on July 14 th – lets go Walton AC!
